Inspirations; Part 5

Nearly a week into the new year and I’m wondering if I can keep a couple of “secret” resolutions I made to myself. So, I need a bit of inspiration to remind me of what I know I must believe to succeed.

  1. Can I add one?
“We can either look back 5 years from now and laugh at what we went through, or we can be happy now.”
It’s a paraphrase of something William Grant Bangerter said to his wife. My friend, their granddaughter, related this story.
They were living in Brazil in the late 1950’s while serving a mission. Geraldine, his wife, who was pregnant with one of their 10 children, had just hung out the cloth diapers to dry. It began to rain heavily on the almost dry diapers . That combined with the fact that she couldn’t speak the language, so she couldn’t go grocery shopping without her husband (who did speak the language) and the fact that she was thousands of miles away from their home in Utah, and the fact that they had a rat infestation she couldn’t seem to get on top of, led her to complain to her husband when he got home.
He then said the above statement to her.
I guess it was attitude and life changing for her. And I am trying to remember this myself. I can either look back on the things that were difficult, and laugh about it later, or I can just enjoy my life now.
And I didn’t mention this because I thought you needed to hear it, I promise. I just loved the idea of this. I’m kind of a whiner, and I get caught up in the daily struggles and I forget to enjoy what I have. So your inspiriational quotes just made me think of it and I wanted to share.
    Have an awesome day!

    1. I like that very much!! I know I whine a lot and I know I complain a lot, but I try to be happy at the same time, too. I WANT to be one of those people who always sees the joyful/funny/happy things in a bad situation. And in a way, these little quote and stories like that help me to be that person!
Thank you, Friend!! I hope you have an awesome day, too!
