To Cle Elum

I have finally made it to the Homeland, after beginning my travels a couple of days back. I’m extremely exhausted so won’t wax lyrical about home, but I know that some of you want to know what I’m up to, so here’s what my day looked like:

I woke up early at my baby sister’s house and had a cup of coffee before hitting the road for Cle Elum. On the way, I picked up my 14-year-old nephew, Haden, and 16-year-old nephew, Parker. It was the first time I saw them since the day I left for Scotland, so lots of hugs were shared before we got in the car and made the drive over the pass.

Once in Cle Elum, we stopped in at the local Dairy Queen for Dilly Bars. Well, we actually stopped in to surprise my 17-year-old niece, Krystyne, who was working there. More hugs followed.

Then I finally arrived at my folks’ house where I was greeted with even more hugs.

At the folks’, I was excited to see a bag of goodies on my bed – including cookies and candy as well as a new loofa for the shower. And when Daddy asked me if I had any laundry, I happily handed over a bag of dirty clothes that later magically appeared clean and folded on my bed!

After a while, Haden and I went to McKean’s for a root beer. Only we really went so that I could surprise my 19-year-old niece, Virginia. And – you guessed it! – there were more hugs.

Then Haden and I went to the ammo store to see Uncle Christopher. (Yes, even more hugs there.)

And, finally, I was back at the folks’ for some downtime before a lovely dinner of bratwurst, sauerkraut, and au gratin potatoes.

It’s been a long and exhausting day and I’m now going to bed (early!) with the hopes of a refreshing night’s sleep.

Tomorrow I’m planning to go for a run before I spend the day playing with the kids mentioned above. And on Monday I’m planning for more running, coffee with a friend, taking Mum to her physical therapy appointment, then dinner with Uncle Chris. Busy, busy, busy!

I’m going to need a vacation after this holiday!

    1. You are certainly on the list of people to see! I have to figure out my visiting schedule and will let you know when I’m heading your way. (Or if you’re heading this way before then, give a shout!)
