Via, Veritas, Vita

Remember how I told you that I submitted my first PhD application? And that I was a little concerned that I wouldn’t get accepted? Well, that concern seems to have been unwarranted because I have been offered a place at the University of Glasgow, beginning this autumn. Oh yes, I have!

And now I know that I’m clever enough to be wanted. I admit that I was worried about that because I have low self-esteem when it comes to my academic ability which stems from childhood. And those doubts grew even stronger when I was doing my master’s degree last year when I actually feared I would fail. (And that didn’t happen!)

If everything goes smoothly (please, God, throw me a bone here!) I should be finishing my PhD when I’m 42 years old. This might be old in some respects, but it will make me the youngest PhD in my family. (OK, the only PhD. But that still counts.)

I hope you’re looking forward to more boring academic-y posts! Of course, until I get funding sorted, it’s really still just a dream. But I will be applying for a scholarship this week and I have an interesting funding idea I’m working on, too. So stay tuned for more information on all of that!
