Beginning my Christmas 2025 holidays

Once again, I am in The Homeland for my Christmas holidays. I’ve been making the annual trek for five years now, and I expect this year to be a bit different. But then, each year is a little different from the last.

Much of my holiday this year will be spent at my sister’s house, as Daddy has closed the family home for the winter. That will make this holiday feel different: I’ve come home, but I’m not really going home. Of course, with plans to sell the family home in the summer, this will be a slow start to a new normal.

My journey to America was fairly standard, although I skipped the fizz before my first flight, opting instead for a strong coffee. I then had some nachos and a glass of fizz ahead of my London-to-Seattle flight and quickly regretted changing my routine. A note for next time!

On arrival at SeaTac, I messaged Daddy, and he met me at the kerb. Then we made our way to Royann’s by way of Taco Time (some traditions are a must). And then, I fought to stay awake for a couple of hours.

Now, that’s the kind of welcome home greeting I like.

I’m up and ready to start my day now, but (as always) I am the only one up right now. But that just means I have time to sip my coffee in silence before I do a bit of work. And at some point, I’ll get out for a run and maybe a couple of geocaches.

We don’t really have a plan for the holidays yet, but I’m hopeful we’ll get to Cle Elum for a couple of days and maybe even take a little road trip. But whatever we do, I know I’ll have loads of quality time with family. And that is the important thing.
