Like most kids, I played Hopscotch growing up. It was a great game and really only required a piece of chalk. And since they used blackboards in schools back then, chalk was an easy commodity to come by!
I think we mostly used rocks as our markers. But for a while, Chinese Jacks were in style and we used them. They were lighter than the rocks and they didn’t tend to tumble around which was cool.
Anyhow, I don’t know about you but I can’t resist a Hopscotch court. It doesn’t matter if I’m in casual gear and sneakers or a suit and heels – I hop.
And hopping makes me happy. So I’m putting a piece of chalk in my handbag and I’m going to start making Hopscotch courts when no one is looking because I bet that I’m not the only grownup who must hop.
And I bet that most grownups would smile if they saw a Hopscotch court appear outside of their office – even if they didn’t hop.
I wonder where I’ll put my first piece of graffiti…?

LOVE IT! A couple years ago I did the 5K walk at a convention with my boss. We were walking along and I saw a hopscotch on the pavement. I had to do it. I couldn’t resist. I tried to talk my boss into joining in the fun, but he declined. 😉
Your boss is a fuddy-duddy and needs to be taught how to be a child. It’s a vital lesson for long-term survival. Just ask Daddy.
Well, he did pull out a nerf gun in our weekly meeting a couple weeks ago… 😉
I remember playing Hopscotch, but for the life of me, I just cannot remember how the game works and what you actually do?! (Besides the obvious hopping, lol)
I can’t quite remember the rules other than you skip squares with markers in them and sometimes you can pick up the markers of the other players or something like that. Hummm… must go brush up on the rules!
It’s awesome that you are planning to do this, Guerrilla Hopscotchers of The World Unite! 🙂
I made my first one this morning at my folks’ house. The FUN has begun!!
You can graffiti my driveway all you want!!! I love hopscotch!!!
Be sure to grab some chalk and hopscotch-bomb others, too!! You know you want to! 🙂
