Sharing is nice

When I started Just Frances I did so thinking that I’d just throw things out there randomly and that no one would read it. It wasn’t meant to be anything more than an outlet for thoughts – an outlet I felt I really needed because there wasn’t anyone sitting next to me on the couch every evening to share things with.

Soon, family and friends began reading and within a month my readership doubled. The following month, it grew a bit more. And eventually, ‘perfect strangers’ were reading. So I added a contact form and a way for readers to subscribe to new stories. And the blog kept growing.

Now, in the grand scheme of things, my readership isn’t that big – yet. But I’m now hearing from folks regularly telling me how much they enjoy Just Frances. And I’m often asked if I’ve thought about doing this, that, or the next thing to make the blog more interactive for viewers.

I was asked to implement a rating system. So I did. It was suggested that little video clips of me talking to my readers would be fun. So the YouTube channel I created for Schrodie’s fans is now sharing space with my silly videos.

And I was asked to include ways to share posts via Facebook, Twitter, Digg, email, and more! But I was unable to do so until this week when WordPress finally rolled out sharing functions on their blog platform. (Thanks, WordPress!)

Well, dear readers, your sharing tools are here now, so share, share, share!

Now, selfishly, I should add that whilst I began this little blog as a way of sharing random thoughts with no expectation other than personal release, I’ve found that I enjoy knowing that others are reading. I’ve found that it really is great to know that there are people out there who have found enjoyment in my writings. Which, of course, just inflates my ego that little bit more.

OK! What does this mean to you? Well, it means that it’s now easier to share Just Frances with your friends. And it means that I listen to you – I really, really do listen to you! So feel free to get in touch and let me know what you would like to see or read more about. Let me know what other changes you’d like to see to the site. And feel free to let me know what you don’t like. I may not take all of your suggestions, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want them!

Oh, and feel free to subscribe for email updates, too. Then you know you’ll never miss another amazingly awesome instalment from Just Frances!

Thanks for reading! ::kiss kiss::

  1. What a good idea. *rushes off to see if she can do it in blogger*
I love reading your posts, Frances – you’ve such a quirky outlook that’s always fun to read.

    1. I think I’ve seen sharing links on your sister’s blog – so must be able to do it on blogger.
I’m assuming you mean quirky good and not quirky “stay away from her she’s really weird and it might be contagious”… Glad I can provide a bit of entertainment though!
I should admit that my entire life I’ve been described as the weird one, strange one, crazy one, eccentric one, and quirky one. Not that I need to admit something that’s so obvious to everyone who meets me! (Thankfully, I’ve grown to love myself despite being weird and crazy!)

  2. weird is good and no one’s ever described me as a perfect stranger (imperfect or damaged maybe, or even quirky, but not perfect)
as for the sharing stuff on blogger, Add This is a good place to start, as is Intense Debate Comment Luv (also works well on wordpress, probably works better on wordpress) and there’s also SocialFollow and I think blogger has also now added easy-add widgets to the layout page (not that i spend a lot of time on blogger cough cough)
i will be over to YouTube once i’m away from this quirky (and in this context it means absolutely diabolically awful) cottage intenet wireless link.

    1. How about a pretty cool quirky stranger?
I checked out Intense Debate Comment Luv after seeing it on your site, but I can’t implement it on mine – yet! It works on WordPress.org, but not .com. Can’t wait to get it for Just Frances though!
Hope you’re enjoying your hols – despite the poor wireless link. I imagine it’s similar to the San Juans where you are. Beautiful!
